Game of Thrones: 7 life lessons from Daenerys Targaryen (Mother of Dragons)

I had a meaningful journey with Daenerys Targaryen throughout her play in Game of Thrones. She has played a pivotal and incredible role and pulled everyone through her magnetic acting in Game of Thrones.  This GoT may be the weird TV show to her followers but it revealed to me about my game of life in the society and to shape myself. I think there are a number of great lessons to be learnt from her. There are many people judge that there is nothing much to learn from Daenerys Targaryen but I want to diverge from them to share some positive characters of her in GoT.

A leader in me!

Bruce Fairchild Barton said that great leaders are born, not made. Reaching the vision is the first priority of the powerful leader and good leadership is about handling challenges and move ahead by resolving the problems. A person can’t be a leader unless he/she understands the secret behind the qualities of leadership. According to Daenerys Targaryen in GoT, she is born leader to lead people. We usually forget ourselves and will expect someone to lead us but she became a self-leader and people's leader.

Never give up!

The world is full of challenges and struggles, where everyone is trying to reach their goals as quickly as possible in their own ways. There are people who take problems in a challenging way to reach their goals. In the case of the mother of dragons, she encountered a number of hurdles which were unexpected and unpredictable, because her character moves like “a rat walking amidst of cats”. It is very difficult to face the challenges. Nowadays I could see the related situation with women in society. My suggestion is that never, ever, give up your self-esteem and step towards your goals. 

Mother is a mother!

Mother is a mother, there is no doubt about it. No one can replace her. I have been travelling with my mother for many years, she never stepped back to give her love rather showered as much as she could. We usually say that it is the mother earth! Because earth cares us in different ways at all times. The perennial river may stop giving water if there is no water in the underground, but the mother’s love is something from divine where the showers of love can’t be stopped. According to GoT She never stepped back to give her love and concerns towards her children (Dragons) and her people too.. That’s why she was called Mother of Dragons. Every mother stands as an icon of love in the world. I expect, this has to be continued as the mother earth cares us.

Never betray your friends! 

Betrayal is one of the worst characters of a human being in the world. Daenerys Targaryen was betrayed by her friends many times but she never remembered of it. She was totally loyal to the core of her followers till her death and with her people. The best friends may be the worst betrayers in difficult circumstances. We need to learn something best from the mother of dragons. Betraying is just equal to poisoning the person directly.

Gratitude is one of the best attitudes!

Attitude makes a man perfect! It is a universal truth, we can’t deny it. When the mother of dragons was betrayed by her own commander in chief and by others, however, she showed her full gratitude and loyalty to him and to others. We are living in the midst of the noise world, where people may show their ungratefulness to us based on their experiences but let us not stop showing our gratitude to others, what may come. One day this will become a spark in their life to change them. 

Power is not to rule rather, is to set people free!

Power is to set people free from slavery, poverty, low economic condition and from health problems. Everyone is requiring equity rather than equality in society. This was practised with people in GoT by Daenerys Targaryen. Power is to do with service and sharing, not making people miserable. This has to be acquired and practised by our leaders. This will bring tremendous changes to everyone.

Face the challenges in every situation!

Daenerys Targaryen was taken and she performed one of the strongest and challenging characters than others in GoT. She was the person, who was very self-confident and courageous, though her body language appeared calm and polite. According to me, she was ever vibrant in thinking and implementing her plan, when her enemies approached in all situations. The world is full of challenges especially against women; we need to imbibe her confidence and courage to face the challenges and to march towards our goal.
